my dad has cystic fibrosis, at his worst he was at 16% lung function. he refuses to use his handicap placard because of people like this. he exerts himself to the point of needing to recover for days before going back out (he also refuses to wear his oxygen outside of the house because of comments from others). but he looks real good in his dream car (1978 firebird)

My sister has stage 3 scoliosis and she’s only 26 and drives a Alfa Romeo quad and she never parks in the handicapped even tho she uses a cane when she can’t stand her back and even though she truly does need the spot as a handicapped individual but it’s because of ignorant people judging her constantly that she prefers to park farther to not have to explain herself especially since she wears heals everywhere so she seems okay but her high heels actually help her spine stay aligned while she stands but people still judge . I hate it .

It’s so frustrating! I have a 13 year old daughter who has a bone condition that means she grows bone tumours on almost every joint in her body. From the outside clothed, she looks like any other teenager. A few weeks ago a man in his 70’s walked up to her so aggressively and said “I hope you’ve parked here to pick your grandma up”. As if these spots are just for elderly?! I wish I could have got it on camera! Ever since she wants to just avoid parking in disability spots because she knows we are judged every time. Thank you for raising awareness that every disability can be different! 👏
