I don’t think birth control is necessarily sinful. A lot of people use it not for the purpose of procreation without reproduction but as a necessary means to overcome difficulties of periods for example endometriosis. For some women without birth control they wouldn’t even be able to get out of bed or talk for a day every month due to pain. I don’t think that is sinful especially if sex is not partaken in.

My grand parents were one of two married couples that served on the papal birth control commission and I can tell you that the vast majority of the commission, including most theologians, disagreed with Humnae Vitae on birth control. There was a small group that influenced the Pope on this.

I commented on her one post as well. I asked my priest and he said it’s fine, the church is going to change the ruling on it soon and the spirit of it is to be open to having children through your marriage not necessarily during every act. If you look at nfp and tracking the cycle it’s not full proof bc the cycle and ovulation aren’t perfectly scientifically tractable down to the minutiae and are variable but let’s say they were bc that’s the spirit of nfp, you are willfully attempting to separate the act of sex from procreation bc it’s not procreation in that sense. If you wanted to be conservative about it you would not track the ovulation or track it and only have sex during ovulation
