my mum does this and you should see my dad's utter excitement. he tracks what he unloads from the shopping and comes to tell me "there's a full chicken in there she's definitely going to cook something big" and he gets so ecstatic when he sees my mum cooking elaborate meals he's like "ohoho she just told me to get out of the kitchen this is going to be good" 😭😭. ah for this level of appreciation to be found for my cooking one day lol

And then being so overstimulated after all that I can’t take a single bite of my own food, until I wake up hours later in the middle of the night and eat the cold leftovers, standing in front of my fridge 😩 or if I’m feeling a bit more civilized, heated up and eaten leaned over the counter while intermittently doom scrolling. Just me?

I made coconut chicken lo mein for my family and taught my youngest brother to cook and season by smell while I did it and not only did he pick up on missing flavors that i didn’t see but he poured the exact amount he needed too. So tonight not only am i proud of myself for making food for my family based on my own recipe that they all enjoyed, but I’ve shared one of my favorite things ever with my brother. My heart is full and my stomach is stuffed lol
