Hi sisi. I’m a genetic counsellor and work with babies and adults with genetic conditions. I definitely agree with you. Akuve kubalulekile to get genetic testing with your partner, to try and ensure a good quality of life of your future children. Inkinga it’s expensive and lacks awareness. You can do the test in private. But it’s very expensive, and most tests are done overseas and medical aids tend to not cover most genetic tests. It can also be done in state/ public but it requires motivation from a doctor either because one is showing sign/symptoms or there is a family history of a genetic condition. Most people are unfortunately unaware of genetic disorders and the poor quality of life that comes with these conditions. Definitely wish there was a better way of creating awareness about this. Thank you for touching on this subject ❤️.

I made this decision years ago in Grade 11 when our Life Sciences teacher taught us about genetic testing..and I was like yep..IF I ever want to have kids, I’m definitely doing that!!
