and WITH those lack of jobs we have federal minimum wage. so even if you can find a job, there's no garuntee it will be enough. 20k+ people make 7.25, and millions make between 12-17 and hour. not enough to support a family of 3 with 2 incomes.

Yk it’s bad when teens can’t find jobs. Most places would leap at the chance to pay a teen .60 above minimum wage.

Not that this helps, but it’s not just Iowa. It’s everywhere and at all levels. I’ve got a bachelors degree and I’m working retail in a completely unrelated field because there are no career opportunities anymore

omg yes 14 in dmi and have applied to 30+ jobs EVERYWHERE, and still haven’t gotten a single one :(. it’s sad to see that even my friends above 20+ are struggling to find just one

I’m 19 in Iowa , when I was fresh out of high school to now, I was told I don’t have enough experience!! Yeah NO ONE WILL HIRE ME!! I applied at 18 places to get one call back, and 23 places to get hired!! The job market is a cruel cycle to get out of.
