Repair shop does it right same day, for $750. Dealership maybe does it right, in 2 weeks for $2,000. That's why.

As a consumer, I don't want, need, or can afford all this computerized crap continuing to be added to vehicles. And I certainly can't afford what the manufacturer wants to charge when a vehicle needs repaired.

this has been going on since i was a mechanic & a service manager of dealership in the 90's. I attended many conventions put on by the big car companies & the goal was to make it so cars had to go to a dealership. adding sensors & computers that couldn't be worked on at the common Joe shop.

If anything they should be made to make it easier for us to repair. Allow us access to all the specs and software and build stuff so it’s easy to repair so we are not forced to have someone else do it.

I don't go to the dealership for repairs because they are too expensive I go to the best and the most responsible priced for my wallet can't afford to pay labor prices over $100.00 an hour plus the parts.

sad thing is even now you can rebuild an older vehicle to like new state cheaper than you can buy a new vehicle of the same type such as a F150 or 1500 etc...

As a tech that works at a ford dealership this is the number one reason I’m never buying a new vehicle the old trucks and car are way more worth keeping alive when you take care of them
