They gave you no noise protection whatsoever ? 😱 the clinic I do my MRIs at (in France) provides both earplugs and noise cancelling headphones

Did you know that the headphones work without any electronics by having a tube of air connected to a speaker outside of the room

I love mri's 😂 I'm so curious all the time, and the noises makes me imagine I'm a dj or something and the task is then to make music of the noises. I'm having a mri edm parti in that hole, and the problem is then to lay still😂

Some places can play music for you, if they do they usually let you pick a pandora station. The music is very soft and I personally find it makes the noise a little easier to handle, gives me something else to focus on.

If you can handle in ear, ask for those plus the over the head ear protectors. It really helps. Loud noises are awful but the combo usually allows me to kinda dose during MRIs

I have to get a yearly head MRI. I do earplugs and the headphones. Then I just focus on the beat to the sounds - listen to the patterns and relax. It helps me deal with how loud it can be

I’m really surprised they didn’t give you earplugs for under the headphones! I’ve had them for all of my mris. It doesn’t block out all the sound but it was much quieter

Congrats on making it through! Not autistic, but I do have claustrophobia, so while I don't know that struggle do know the struggle of MRIs being terrible and horrible.
