@ericsfinancials: When I first started making money, I was always looking for random things to buy, but as I’ve started to focus more on my future and personal goals, my mind set has shifted. ⏰ The 72 Hour Rule I wait at least 3 days before buying anything unplanned. My impulse urges disappear if I wait long enough, and if I still want something after waiting 72 hours, then it becomes worth considering. 🌱 Quarterly Declutter Every few months, I look through my apartment and find what I can donate or sell on Facebook Marketplace. I bet you can find at least $200 worth of things that’s sitting around adding little value to your life. Try it. 🔨 Repair Before Replacing Try to buy clothes and items that can be replaced easily. For example, my Patagonia puffer will last me ages since they make it easy to repair for free or at low cost. If your phone is cracked, get it fixed instead of buying the new gen. 🛒 Shop With a List I go to Costco every month almost religiously, yet each time I go, I carry a list with me. Make it a point to stick to your grocery list. Pro Tip: eat a meal before you buy groceries. 👔 Buy 2nd Hand Facebook Marketplace, eBay and local thrift stores can save you 30-70% on almost any item. I’m not saying you shouldn’t buy new, but mentally shift to checking the secondhand market first. 📺 Subscription Audit Track your monthly expenses and look for any unused subscriptions. You’re probably paying for 2-4 things that you’ve completely forgotten about. Go check. 📚 Borrow, Rent, and Use the Library The library is one of the most underused public resources that we have available. Renting gear that you’ll use once beats owning it indefinitely. Did you know that you can even rent state park passes? 📲 Unfollow Accounts Social media has created a massive catalog of things that people should buy. There’s ads left and right and inflated lifestyles that not everyone can afford. Unfollowing accounts that influences you to spend can make a huge difference. My name is Eric and I talk about being frugal and investing for a wealthy future. Comment GUIDE and I’ll send you a financial checklist! #PersonalFinance #frugality #minimalism
