But, the routine still works best when we start with cleaning the path. Before working around the ankles, we clear the main lymphatic points: the termini, armpits, abdomen, groin, and behind the knees. When I mention the cisterna chyli, I’m referring to a small sac-like structure deep within the abdomen that acts like a collection point for lymph coming up from the legs, pelvis, and abdomen before it eventually travels back toward the bloodstream. Then we move into dry brushing and gentle ankle work to help encourage that fluid upward instead of just focusing only on where the swelling is sitting. And if you have a Gua Sha stone, use it, use it! Gua Sha supports micro circulation, fascial adhesions and can even support softening fibrosis in some cases.
