It's not necessarily meant for high schoolers, it's meant to be an introductory wage. I understand that things are more expensive now but the higher that minimum wage goes, the more expensive things get.

Many high schoolers are learning money management and covering their car fees or phone fees, minimum wage would not cover either of those. They aren’t even given a chance to learn healthy money management.

Im all fine for a bump in min wage but a discussion needs to be had about having a similar standard of living that we had ~50 years ago for those scraping by on low skilled positions

Min wage is pointless and basically only paid to jobs that supplement with tips. My teenagers make $14+/hr. It’s not difficult.

That’s funny, in high school with all of the random jobs that I had I averaged more money per hour than any job I have gotten since turning 18 and getting my diploma.

I can barley afford to pay 456 and month on bills and pay for car stuff especially when stupid emissions is every year and my car seems to fail gets flat tries and stuff my average paycheck is 600 by weekly get paid twice a month

If I wasn’t still living at home I would be able to afford to live. I’m thankful and lucky that my parents don’t charge me rent but I do pay for internet also all the dog meds (which is my childhood dog) it’s at least 150 a month.

also the only readily available jobs that are minimum wage it is so hard to find jobs with availability that aren’t minimum wage. i live in a small town and my fiancé makes 32 dollars an hour and it took him a lot of time and effort to get to that point and we STILL live paycheck to paycheck
