So the reason he’s actually paying only $2500 is because the hospital writes off the majority of it. Which means we, the taxpayers, are paying for it. The hospitals also will negotiate higher rates with insurance companies if they start to have too many losses from uninsured patients, which then makes insurance companies raise our premiums for health insurance. So next time you see one of these vids where someone is talking about how much they saved being uninsured, just know that you’re paying for their healthcare.

I just got hired on and my insurance didn’t start up yet. Went to the doctor for bronchitis. I paid 15 dollars for visit and medication without insurance. I honestly just wish doctors opened up their own places and put prices up. People would probably be better off.

He is lying when you don’t have insurance they charge you the highest rate. Insurance companies get a discount because of volume.

The No Surprises Act requires hospital to post the prices of 300 of their most commonly used services, the link is in the hospital’s website footer and called “Price Transparency” or something close to that.

Hospitals should have menus with columns for with specific insurance and without so we can choose ourselves. Not having choice like that should be illegal

This isn't great advice. What you should be telling people to do is request a pre determination from the provider so know exactly what and all of CPT codes they're planning to use. Asking the average person to guess at what CPT codes are going to be used is silly at best.

Hospitals also legally have to accept a payment plan so I’ve just set up a 5$ a month payment till they get tired of sending me a bill😂
