Let me get this straight. I pay 10% and my insurance pays the rest. If I don’t have insurance they will reduce my bill to 10% of the original bill? Then why bother having insurance?

So the reason he’s actually paying only $2500 is because the hospital writes off the majority of it. Which means we, the taxpayers, are paying for it. The hospitals also will negotiate higher rates with insurance companies if they start to have too many losses from uninsured patients, which then makes insurance companies raise our premiums for health insurance. So next time you see one of these vids where someone is talking about how much they saved being uninsured, just know that you’re paying for their healthcare.

He is lying when you don’t have insurance they charge you the highest rate. Insurance companies get a discount because of volume.

go look up "self pay" prices for regular stuff.. lab work, MRIs, UltraSounds, etc. you'll realize how useless it is to pay out so much every month

The No Surprises Act requires hospital to post the prices of 300 of their most commonly used services, the link is in the hospital’s website footer and called “Price Transparency” or something close to that.

Hospitals also legally have to accept a payment plan so I’ve just set up a 5$ a month payment till they get tired of sending me a bill😂

Make sure to look up ur states charity care laws. In my state non profit medical facilitates are required to offer free or reduced care

I have insurance and am healthy. If I ever need to go to ER etc for anything I’m going to tell them I don’t have insurance. 😅

not all hospitals are going to give you a discount most of them will still charge you that $24,000 and then offer a discount program that you can apply for

Ask for a receipt every time. hospital will reduce the cost every single time if you ask for a receipt.
