what? I'm really confused If i say I bought a Ferrari, that's not evidence that I bought it. The evidence is a receipt or image of that Ferrari Saying I bought it is a claim/statement and the receipt is evidence. I am really confused on your point..Can anyone help?

I think folks are getting confused on the difference between evidence and proof. Evidence is a data point. A claim is a data point.

If I understood it correctly, claims are evidence because evidence is data and the claim is a data, but the claim isn’t automatically good evidence it’s just evidence ( somebody pls tell me if I didn’t understand )

As a defense attorney I have this argument daily. People confuse evidence with absolute proof. Yes, someone saying that they purchased a soccer ball IS evidence. You may or may not be convinced by that evidence alone, and you may consider that evidence strong or weak, but it IS evidence.

Claims are obviously a form of evidence but they are not necessarily reason to believe

This is such a slippery statement: "the mere fact that your friend claimed to buy a soccer ball is not evidence, and certainly not strong evidence." It acknowledges that the friend's claim is a fact, but then it conflates bare evidence or the category of evidence as such with strong evidence, qualified evidence, evidence that demonstrates something is self-evident or that something is certain without further evidence. One could argue that claims are not strong evidence and cannot supply something like indisputable knowledge on their own in most situations, while still acknowledging that claims are evidence. But, that doesn't change the fact that claims are type of evidence. Testimony is testimonial evidence. And of course, one can look for evidence to support or corroborate that testimony, but that doesn't change the fact that is a piece of evidence
