I asked to be referred to a genetic oncologist because I have a high immediate family history. My risk is 53%, I plan to have a mastectomy next year.

I had atypia hyperplasia and had the cells removed. Im on Tamoxifen and have to have MRI done every 6 mths. I am high risk after the test was done at 40% Now I’m wondering if I should have had a double mastectomy. 😏

The BRCA test is insanely expensive all insurance should cover the test but you know ofc it’s not covered.

For the rest of us it’s different … she’s a doctor who knows what to search for and can order tests. During my lumpectomy they ran a oncontype test on me and rated my chance of it returning and what after-treatment I would require.

I had no family history. They tried to tell me to come back in 6 months, I told them no, I want a biopsy. It was stage 2 grade 3 breast cancer. I had just turned 37

BRCA 1 positive and breast cancer diagnosis on my 25th birthday. I didn't even get to be old enough to screen before I got it.

Family history of breast cancer, and ovarian cancer. I did genetic testing it came back fine, but my lifetime risk of breast cancer is 36% my dr is concerned enough that she’s having me get yearly mammograms and MRI’s but it’s not enough for a mastectomy.

What’s the point of PMOS diagnosis if they can’t do anything about it? I’ve always had PCOS and no one does anything about it
