@climate_truth: June 8-9, 2026 Salina, Kansas, USA On the evening of June 8, powerful thunderstorms struck central Kansas, causing widespread d€str*ct*on in the city of Salina and Saline County. According to the National Weather Service, d*m*g*ng winds of up to 113 mph (182 km/h) were recorded in Salina. The storm was accompanied by heavy rainfall: up to 178 mm (7.5 inches) of rain fell in some areas, leading to flooding of roads and streets. Numerous trees were d*wn€d, power lines and homes were d*m*g*d, and the steeple of one of the city's churches c*ll*ps€d. More than 17,000 customers in Saline County and over 33,000 people statewide were without power. Due to the storm's impact, summer schools were canceled, some public facilities were closed, and utility services were restricted. During a storm on Interstate 70, strong winds 0v€rt*rned two trucks.
