I think the fact that he is an introvert plays a big role. Some people naturally do not go out of their way to reach out to others and distance makes such relationships harder. That being said, I think when he moved, he did not communicate properly over the years and the family especially his twin felt hurt about it. So the resentment built up until ....

I wonder if op is extremely successful. maybe because he went and made something of himself where the brother is envious bc he stayed in that town. or parents feel snubbed bc they aren't "needed" or wasn't part of his success. seems so weird to me. my son (20) moved to Ohio and my other son (19) is moving Texas this month. I absolutely can't celebrate anything without my kids (family) even with just one gone, we invited him to our yearly ski trip, xmas, Thanksgiving. a wedding? he would be here even if i have to pay for it
