Hi there! I bought a house after going to Thailand and then went to Croatia right after on a single Income as a 24 year old. Not using parents money. I bought the house that was lowest in my budget and moved from Seattle to the Midwest to make this achievable. I travel all the time now at least once a month for fun! But I credit card point hack and my work makes me travel a ton where I wrack up points. However, I dont have wifi and literally eat Costco in bulk foods to keep my expenses low. That was my personal experience. Where you live will change that. In Seattle I would not be able to do this.

We stayed away from arts degrees, used our employers’ tuition reimbursement programs for our master’s degrees, bought modest homes and vehicles, funded 529s early, invested 10 to 15% of our income, and stopped worrying about impressing others, now in our early 40s we do really whatever we want. Most importantly don’t try and keep up with others. Remember a dollar saved in your 20s is worth $45 in your 60s.
