@thepcosgals: A gynaecologist looked at me and told me she did not think I had PCOS. I had already lost 10kg at that point. I still had every symptom. She had not run a single test. She just looked at me and decided. Around half of all women with PCOS have a normal BMI PCOS is not a weight condition, it is a hormonal and metabolic one. Losing weight does not make it disappear because weight did not cause it. My testosterone an androgen hormone and one of the main PCOS markers came back at 1.88 nmol/L. The normal upper range for women is 1.67 nmol/L. That result existed regardless of how I looked. If a doctor dismisses your PCOS based on your appearance, ask for testosterone and SHBG by name. If they decline, say this: I would like it recorded in my notes that I have raised concerns and been declined investigation. Then book with another GP. I am not a medical professional. This is what happened in that room. Drop a comment if you have been dismissed because of how you look. #PCOSuk #PMOS #PCOSdiagnosis #PCOSdismissed #PCOSsymptoms
Yep! Constantly dismissed. Now I have lost a little weight and physically look fine it’s been such a battle to get referrals and blood tests done! Sending my love 🫶🏻
