If it’s in Japan, I would just smile and make a little bow, even if I feel uncomfortable, or shy. Maybe I would make myself look stupid, but in my country, when you meet someone while hiking/in nature etc, you wish them good day, so I do the same in another country. 🙏🏼

Lived in Japan for 2 years. Up north when I was stationed at Misawa AB. Loved the country and people. Long as you treat them well they treat you well.

It will probably be my experience as when I visit Japan I won’t really have an interest in the cities and spend most of my time out in the countryside. I’ve lived on a farm my whole life so cities just don’t really interest me much. Also, from videos and pictures, the countryside of Japan just looks way prettier and better.
