The newly crowned NCAA National Champion reflected on a dream years in the making. Entering the tournament as the No. 10 seed, Valencia battled through adversity and stunned the top seed in sudden victory on his way to the championship. “It was everything I dreamed about,” Valencia shared. “A life goal checked off.” But the title meant more than personal accomplishment. Surrounded by teammates and family mat-side, Valencia carried the motivation of his sister, dedicating the championship to her after her medical retirement from wrestling.The emotions didn’t stop there. Valencia also spoke about the remarkable rise of @cardwrestling. Just a few years ago, the program’s future was uncertain. Today, the Cardinals finished among the nation’s elite, and Valencia believes they’re building something special. “We’re going to contend for titles. Look out for Stanford.” Now, he’s giving back to the next generation through camps like this one, sharing the lessons that helped him reach the top and inspiring young wrestlers to chase their own dreams. Proof that where you start doesn’t determine where you finish.
