And we are VERY liberal with pain drugs in oncology…. I work inpatient and we give out oxy like candy. Cancer can be excruciating

The caption 😭 I was taking care of a woman in the ER and she was withdrawing. All of my coworkers were annoyed with her all because she was a drug addict. She felt comfortable with me because I treated her like a human being. She told me that she had been clean for 4 years and 6 months ago, her four-year-old son drowned in a pool and died. That caused her to relapsed. I felt so bad for her. Her reason to be clean and stay alive was gone. My coworkers sat there and judged her when an actuality she was dealing with some really heavy things they have the privilege of not knowing. I lost my dad last June very unexpectedly but I cannot even begin to imagine what losing a child is like.

Brain cancer is calculated in grades not stages. Typically only spread to spine nowhere else.

This story reminds me so much of my story with my son’s cancer. I started on Xanax while he was sick and continued on after he died (at 21).

It terrifies me that stories like this could lead to cancer patients not getting pain relief bc of people around them being irresponsible. It’s already happening.
