Because in Marx’s time national liberation was a prerequisite to the establishment of capitalist social relations and therefore to the establishment of a genuine proletariat with international potential, nowadays we live in a world where the complete domination of capitalist social relations means that there is in all cases of modern “national liberation” already a proletariat present, so there is no need for natlib as a prerequisite. Imperialism is the general mode of interaction between nations under the capitalist mode of production, and it is not weakened by there being more countries involved. It can only be destroyed by the abolition of the social relations that constitute the proletariat as a class and with it the abolition of the class system itself.

Furthermore, my favorite framework for this stuff, the National-democratic theory of the USSR, was built on observing objective reality in the cuban, indonesian, Egyptian and other projects, national liberation movements may not instantly contain the class elements for socialism, but they have the progressive forces and intent to pursue a socialist orientation in their development.

it really depends on whether said nationalist movement would contribute or not to class movement, if a nationalist movement seeks to install a system that's even worse than what was there before then it's damaging to class movement

Insufficient, it also needs an analysis of the ideological/class content of the nationalist movement. in the 3rd world, some nationalist movements are reactionary and pro-imperialist. In the 1rst world, some nationalist movement are progressive, especially in the context of the EU. I say that cause I know you guys at the PSL like to say that nationalism in the core is bad and in the periphery is good, that's not a much better approach than saying all nationalism is bad
