@mcmahondogtraining: The point of this exercise is to teach him that moving toward what he wants doesn’t get him closer to it. Lying down and relaxing is what makes attention available again. #DogTraining #dogtrainer #dogs #dogtrainingtips #dogobedience #puppy #puppytraining
Do I have a dog? No. Did I watch the whole thing? Yes.

Another question, what do you think is the first thing I should teach my puppy? Because I want to teach him all of these things and I don’t know what to start with

I have a golden retriever/plott hound mix that’s 13 months. He does stuff like this while also grabbing our hands provoking us.. then escalates into a whole thing. I wonder if this would help.

I have a question, does this happen every time he’s on a leash or can he do it when he’s off?

The dog is not demanding that she play with it. It is just doing what dogs do: wanting to play with its owner. You don't need any sort of punishment; it is easy to train this behavior without it. When teaching a 'lie down', you definitely do not need any kind of pressure—it is easy to train without it. Pressure often causes a reverse reaction (imagine someone trying to push you down). There is no need for any sort of pressure; those methods are outdated. I hope people will choose trainers who make training fun and fair for the dog.

You don’t have to drag him down using a leash. If you make them walk under your leg they will have to lay down. This also makes them make the connection in their mind that they’re laying themselves down rather than someone forcing them to do it.
