If the hotel has 24/7 reception, they won’t overbook the hotel so your room is always secure unless stated otherwise in the hotel check-in policy… They’ll mark you as no show after a certain hour once midnight is long gone and sell the room for the upcoming day, but deffo not for that same day… This is nonsense

Working in hotels, late check in is anything after midnight. We do recommend calling us in that case bc night audit will mark the rooms that haven't checked in as a "no show". If we have noted what time to expect you then yes we will hold the room. 6PM is not late at all

As someone who worked for hotels for a decade, please do not call us just to say you’re going to have a late check-in. If we are oversold, the only rooms we don’t give away is those for elite reward members. Everyone else is first come first serve and whoever straggles in last gets walked. The best thing you can do is arrive within 1-2 hours of check-in time.

Nope. Our hotel never overbooks and never cancels no shows. if you are not there by 3am we check you in and just hope that you show up. If you don’t we still get paid for that night and Housekeeping has an unused room.

Always call the hotel before hand just in case, especially if you book through a 3rd party. The hotel doesn’t always receive the reservation from the 3rd party and it’s nice to have it sorted before you arrive… but like don’t call immediately after booking 😂

Yes. Hotels over book. But if there is a city event, you don’t. You call other hotels and check their availability and “hold” them. But if everyone is 100% you did not do that. Those were nightmares.
