another problem with duolingo too is that most people just care about the streak. they log on, do one "lesson" then close the app, gamifying it makes you lose interest

I don’t think this is always true, I’ve been learning Turkish on AirLearn for like 25 days and i can form a comprehensive paragraph about my age, job, parents, family, car, ordering food, shopping, and other things such as knowing any number from 0-999,999,999

The easiest way to learn a language is making friends who speak it, it doesn’t need to be hard

Duolingo is ok on the side as a compliment but a second language requires spontaneous conversation, comprehension, pronunciation and reading work. And after 30 years old you pretty much need to live in the country for 3-5 years to be B2,C1 level

duolingo is great for reviewing a language you've spent time learning but I couldn't imagine learning a language with it

Fr it was tuff but the hardest thing is the courage to do mistakes that’s how I felt with my mother language but then I reliever if I don’t stress it now it will be too late as a full grown adult so I asked my parents to only speak it with me not English or whatever and after years and going back home to my country if course I’m not a 100% but I could finally speak with my cousins and such without using my parents as translators and that’s a feeling worth more than gold

I’ve been learning English since primary school, the boring way, the entertaining way, and yeah, you GOTTA do everything to learn a language. People keep coming to me asking: how do I learn English? And when I tell well you gotta learn basic grammar, watch tonne of content where you don’t understand shit, keep flash cards for words and revise them regularly people stop listening. Like, there’s some magic easy way to do such a difficult thing
