Cold hands usually come down to 3 things: blood flow, nerve signals, and body temperature regulation. Your hands have a ton of blood vessels close to the surface, so they’re the first place your body cuts blood flow when it needs to conserve heat. Most common reasons: Normal stuff Cold environment: Your body shunts blood to your core to protect organs. Hands get cold first. Stress/anxiety: Adrenaline constricts blood vessels in extremities. That’s why hands go cold when you’re nervous. Low body fat / not eating enough: Less insulation + lower metabolism = colder extremities. Circulation issues Raynaud’s phenomenon: Fingers turn white/blue, then red, in response to cold or stress. Blood vessels over-constrict. Affects ∼5% of people, more common in women. Poor circulation: From smoking, high cholesterol, peripheral artery disease, or sitting too long. Anemia: Low iron = less oxygen delivery. Hands feel cold and pale. Nerve/hormone issues Hypothyroidism: Low thyroid slows metabolism. You feel cold overall, hands included. Nerve compression: Carpal tunnel or neck issues can make one hand feel cold/numb. Vitamin B12/B6 deficiency: Affects nerve function and blood health. When to check it out: If cold hands come with numbness, color changes, pain, fatigue, weight gain, or only affect one hand, get blood flow and thyroid checked. Raynaud’s is usually harmless but worth confirming. Quick things that help: Warm up core first, avoid smoking/caffeine if it’s Raynaud’s, check iron/B12, and move your hands/fingers every 30 min if you sit long. Do your hands change color when they get cold, or are they just cold all the time? #health #body #loyalty #loyaltytest
