This will probably get lost but the whole reason crack seal is a thing is for the longevity of the road; gives it more time instead of creating potholes where the cracks start to form and construction having to take place to redo the road in shorter spans. Asphalt is like a chocolate chip cookie, really soft and can fall apart easily the fresher it is, and gets harder over time before it gets to a point it wants to start breaking apart and crumble.
