@stalinised: Mao Zedong led one of the greatest revolutionary struggles in human history. In a country ravaged by feudalism, imperialism and warlord rule, the Communist Party of China organized the peasants and workers into a force capable of seizing their own destiny. After decades of struggle, the revolution triumphed in 1949 and China stood up. Landlord power was broken, foreign domination was rejected and a new socialist state was born from the strength of the masses. Mao did not simply govern China.
