@beachboyz2men: The incredible photo archive that was nearly sent to a landfill. Special thanks to Gary Leonard for access and help digitizing the slides, and to the Huntington Library for assistance with research.
these photos really capture a proximity of artistry to the public that seem so foreign now.

Imagine thinking that a collection like this would have no cultural, historical, even monetary value and be thrown in the trash? Kudos to Gary for thinking otherwise and saving it.

Things like this are soooo incredibly important! The quality of those pics are incredible, but the documentation of areas at specific times in photos is so valuable. I spent hours recently trying to find photographs of an apartment building in LA, but it was torn down in the 50s i think. It would have been directly in the foreground of the American Insurance building pic you showed though.

I looove these. This is so interesting. I had no idea those old billboards were hand painted?! That’s incredible!! I would 10,000% buy a book of these photos!

These are truly incredible! What a treasure trove. Such a fantastic snapshot of history. They just kept getting better and better through the video. I could watch a two hour documentary about this, honestly.

I always stop scrolling when I see your videos. This is a great one! I’m very fond of this style — Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida contains a handful of billboards trying to recreate that time period.

This era was magical. America's golden age. Many of us caught the tail end of it in the 90s, but the 40s to 2000s was a GOAT era
