I am a student from Morocco, and I am thinking about applying to prestigious universities in the United States. However, I have a question. My high school grades are somewhat low. Will this be taken into consideration during the admissions process? What if I achieve an outstanding score on the SAT and TOEFL, and I also write a strong and unique personal essay? Would I still have a chance of being admitted? As for extracurricular activities, I enjoy self-learning and exploring new things, both in academics and in other areas. I like trying different activities and learning new skills. I also participate in volunteer work during the summer. I dont know where to start for my essay but I always go back to the topic of always being downplayed on my neurological issues just because I wasn’t a ‘bad kid’ so it blended me into the ‘normal kid’ group when I know I’m not. And how this has led me to not rely on healthcare or finding out answers—overall my goal is to become a psychologist to help those people who feel like how I felt. Other things you need to consider than just telling them your gpa and whats special about you for college applications is the amount of school achievements and activity curriculums you actually need to have. Things such as clubs, internship, sports etc. possibly even projects you’ve worked on during high school that may have been successful . All of those are important for your collage application. Without them, what are you going to give to show that you’re actually worth being sent to Ivey league colleges such as Harvard, Yale, Rice, Columbia, Cornell and more if the only thing you have to prove is who you are/ gpa?
