@brynn_ann: How I Store & Use My Sourdough Starter in the Fridge Here’s a simple sourdough starter fridge routine you can use if you only bake once a week. ☀️ FRIDAY MORNING Take your starter out of the fridge, unseal the jar and let it rise/peak at room temp. 🌙 FRIDAY NIGHT Feed your starter and let it peak overnight. ⚖️ I use a 1:4:4 feeding ratio: • 1 loaf: 14g starter + 56g flour + 56g water • 2 loaves: 25g starter + 100g flour + 100g water • 3 loaves: 35g starter + 140g flour + 140g water ☀️ SATURDAY MORNING Use the active starter to mix your dough. ✨ AFTER MIXING DOUGH Feed your starter again: • 10g starter + 30g flour + 20g water • Let it sit at room temp. for 2 hours • Seal the jar and return it to the fridge This routine keeps your starter strong while making sourdough feel a lot more manageable and lower maintenance. I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any questions. 💛 #sourdough #sourdoughstarter #sourdoughbread #sourdoughbaking #sourdoughforbeginners
It’s my first time to feed after I went for an in person class to make sourdough toast . So just to clarify , if I will make few loafs I just need to increase the ratios of my starter ?

The starter was in the fridge for a week, I took it out and fed ( mistake I guess). It’s not moving. In 24 hours just bubbles but that’s all. I fed again (1-1-1) and in 5 hours nothing. Is it dead?

This was great!! Do you think it’s bad if I store it in fridge once it peaked? I have been doing that then taking it out 5 days later and feed. It seems to be working but I think your way makes more sense

I feed my starter every morning between 9:30am-10:30am and I don't want to have to wait 5 hours for it to peak before I bake.
Would I have to feed it once in the morning and once at night for it to be ready by the morning?

Hi how do you keep your mother starter alive ? Mine is currently living in the fridge so when I pull it out, let it get to room temp, feed and put back in the fridge if I’m not going to bake with it?

Hi! Thanks for the great videos. You say it doesn’t thrive in the fridge… I keep my starter in a Sourdough Home at a constant 67 degrees. This allows me to feed it in the morning and at night when I’m home from work and it will have peaked in about 11 hours with a 1:3:3 ratio. Is this too cold? I want to keep it active so that’s why I don’t store it in the fridge. It does more than double but I don’t want it to get acidic. Any advice on the lower temp?

If I keep the a discard jar in the fridge (to accumulate more for crackers) does it need maintenance feeding/ what’s the best way to keep it?

I don’t understand why the original starter becomes discard. Why can’t you just refeed it and follow your process. I’m new to this so need help.
