The ancient empires before whites had a lot of curious relations. It didn’t occur to them to barbarically try to wipe out each other for no reason other than to parasitically extract every resource. That’s unique to western colonization.

It must’ve been so intimate to learn about other groups of people by just spending time with them without modern resources for translation. There were probably alot of “aha” moments when their automatic assumptions of about what others were trying to communicate get challenged which lead to deeper understanding nd such.
