I actually think he told run to quit bc he knew he would not, he did not want Rin to depend on anyone and if he had dreams he should work for them for his own sake

Maturing it’s realizing they both said very heavy things on this conversation. Also, we only see rins pov. And from my point of view, it’s actually rin who is objectifying sae as just a football teammate, and not sae, since it’s rin who firstly thinks about how saes decision would affect him and said how he was gonna give up soccer then, and saying sae wasn’t his brother anymore just bcs he changed dreams. I’m not saying rin is doing this consciously, but he pretty much only as a soccer star who he admires. He wants to be like his big brother because he’s good at soccer and all that. Ofc he loves sae, but we don’t see Rin think of sae regarding almost anything else than soccer, and he throws away the whole relationship only because of soccer.

This take is genuinely so bad Sae prioritized getting to rin first and told him he wanted to change the dream. “I can be the best midfielder. You can be the best striker.” He still wanted to keep that dream but when Rin repeated the words from their childhood, Sae said “I get it now. We are both half baked” like he’s only just noticing, not just rin but himself. Sae faced players he never seen before and he had to face reality, had to get his dreams crushed and go to a country alone, no one to help him. He would’ve thought Rin would’ve accepted him and Rin didn’t. But then Rin obviously wouldn’t have taken it lightly since it was a dream he built his identity on and he would’ve expected Sae to not abandon him, neither of them are at fault. Sae still looks after Rin by watching blue lock tv and watching as Rin grows, he wants Rin to find his own footing and his identity.

Clearly what Sae did wasn’t the best thing to do, but it doesn’t make him a bad brother though. He didn’t want Rin to KEEP relying on him, if he did went on to go coddle him, Rin would never evolve as a player.

Seeing people saying that Sae wasn't a bad brother is a bit annoying, as an older brother myself i can tell that football isn't a excuse to treat your brother like that, no matter how much You care about them you just can't appear from your trip to say to your younger brother that your shared dreams are trash and then leaving them alone.

Maturing is realizing that both of them grew up and had their own emotions to deal with, Sae wants to become the best and it's not his concern weather Rin likes that or not.

Both Rin and Sae aren’t Good brothers to one another as they grew up. Rin was wrong for lashing out at Sae initially while Sae was wrong for continuously pushing him away. Neither are innocent in this scenario and we need to quit coddling Rin like he’s an innocent little baby.
