The enemy doesn’t always announce himself. Sometimes Scripture says one of the clearest warning signs that Satan may be gaining a foothold is what’s happening inside of us—unchecked anger, pride, bitterness, division, or deception. “Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold.” — Ephesians 4:26–27 That’s a sobering thought: God warns us about certain attitudes not simply because they’re unhealthy, but because they can become spiritual access points. And that raises an interesting question about dreams. Not every dream is from God. Not every nightmare is spiritual. But throughout Scripture, God sometimes used dreams to warn people about things they couldn’t yet see. Could God occasionally use a nightmare to get our attention—to expose fear, anger, pride, temptation, or spiritual warfare we’ve been ignoring?
