@childocdtherapist: PANDAS/PANS describes conditions in which an abnormal immune response is believed to trigger OCD and other neuropsychiatric symptoms in some people. While infections are the most recognized trigger, other inflammatory or immune-related triggers may also play a role. This reel portrays one possible presentation of PANDAS/PANS, including OCD, emotional outbursts, separation anxiety, tics, restrictive eating, and new urinary incontinence. Symptoms and their severity can vary widely from person to person. If PANDAS/PANS is suspected, it’s important to work with a knowledgeable healthcare provider to evaluate and address the underlying medical component. OCD treatment should also be part of the overall treatment plan, with the timing and approach individualized to the person’s needs. PANDAS survivor of the 90s before it was well known… classic case of strep every year from age 4 to age 22. I found out this was what caused my severe OCD/tourettes/anxiety and depression onset suddenly at age 7 (along with migraines and 2 autoimmune diseases) when I was in my 20’s. I wish I could go back in time and get treatment and not live so many years of torture. This skit made me tear up.

This is exactly how my kid’s OCD & Tourette’s showed up - overnight a few years ago. Unfortunately, PANS/PANDAS isn’t “believed” in very much here.

I had a stick stuck in my foot for 4 months in 2024 and couldn’t walk doctors didn’t believe me until I had a big abscess and needed surgery and ever since then I’ve had crazy ocd and I’m scared of the tiniest cuts and any food or anything bad that could ever possibly happen to me when I used to be so carefree before now I obsessively think abt what bad things could happen with every single thing I do in my daily life it’s exhausting

Thank you for your videos, it's nice to see ocd representation that help others understand! 💕After stepping on glass when I was 5 and the doctors not believing me i had glass in my foot for 7 months until I developed a blood infection and sepsis. I later developed these symptoms and have had ocd since. I wish more awareness was around then as my mom and medical professionals had no idea what was going on.
