i loved my au pair experience, but the most awkward part of it is that the mum would regularly send me to do really domestic cozy date like activities with the dad and youngest daughter (4) who also had a habit of calling me mummy… we’d go out on a walk in the park and to dinner, grocery shopping and a weekend trip once when the mum couldn’t make it 😭😭 it was awful and i looked like his child bride and it was so obvious he also was extremely uncomfortable. so i’d just be 19 sat having a steak dinner with a 45 year old man and his 4 year old with NO common topics of discussion so we’d just talk about american politics lol
