This is why I only hang out with people who are studying extremely specific and niche fields that don’t pay well or have a narrower chance of success. They spend their ambition (which they have lots of) on what they genuinely love and don’t care what other people superficially think, and you always learn from them

It’s about having ambition and goals around intrinsic motivation. People who chase success for the sake of money or clout are soulless. The most successful people I know (quants, phds, etc) would be doing it for free!

no cause it’s like u gotta contribute to society for a reason other than personal gain.. social climbers/ LinkedIn bros and loser burnouts have that in common. Neither of these groups will volunteer/ be involved in community building because it requires a certain level of selflessness.
