I remember getting so annoyed as a kid when teachers would suddenly quit or switch to teaching a subject they’ve never done before (PE to AP Euro History was my personal nightmare) but seeing this side of things makes me appreciate how much all those teachers stepped up for us students (I did somehow pass the AP Euro test that year)

My direct supervisor is leaving and at our end-of-the-year meeting, I asked her what I would be teaching next year. She called the person who will be my supervisor next year, and she said, “Hm. I don’t know. What do you want to teach? Let’s just go with that.”

I was teaching K-5th science as a special for the past 5 years. I had 30 classes a week. Next year, I’m going to be a second grade homeroom teacher. I’m nervous

The year after the district replaced our principal, myself and 26 other staff left (including an AP). They had to restaff two of our three grade levels.

What’s sad is that so many of us have been in this situation- no matter your state, school zone, culture, or status. We’re in the same boat. Just trying to make it work without a paddle.

My end of year meeting today started with the principal saying “a lot of you have a very negative mindset and we just need to move past that today so that we can do the work.”

We had a new principal from outside the district meet us on the last teacher in-service day and he resigned the next day. We all considered that a huge win. 🤣💙
