Not to diminish your experience but just know that there are many other ethnic groups that experience this every day. Not just in France but just about everywhere. It’s sad and cruel. I’m sorry you had to deal with that.

I waited 20 minutes and no one came to take my order & it was obvious I kept making eye contact with the waiter. In the end I raised my hand for the waiter and he gave me a dressing down saying in France you wait for the waiter to come, went on an entire rant about not respecting culture. He’s dealing with the wrong Asian, I slammed the table and walked out. I’ve tons of other racist stories about waiters all across Europe. Do European tourist respect chopsticks etiquette in Asia? Heck they can’t even use chopstick. Being racist while hiding behind the veneer of “culture” disgusting

my partner and I were in Barcelona once for dinner and walked to this restaurant. we were standing next to the entrance while waiting to be served to a table. the staff saw us but didnt bother to greet or acknowledged us and we were waiting for more than 5 mins and they weren't even busy. I told my partner lets go elsewhere coz obviously they dont want the business but my partner insisted we wait and after a few more mind, the staff decided to approach us and showed us a table. Horrible service.

I know how you feel — I had the exact same experience in Seoul when I was traveling there with a friend. We didn’t complain, we just sat there, ate our dinner, and left.

Me and my parents are from England and got this same treatment in Paris. Numerous restaurants. In one we had to wait 40 minutes before someone took our order. We had no choice but to wait as this was the only decent place in the area we were staying, surrounded by takeaway pizza and kebab shops.

People excusing this and saying it's not racism and Parisian servers are just rude etc are missing the point. When you are a visible minority and you visit mainly white establishments, and the service is bad just to your table, you can NEVER BE SURE if the server is an ass OR Iif they're discriminating against you. That uncertainty is where the concept of WHITE PRIVILEGE comes from and what minorities have to deal with EVERYTIME they see unequal treatment and behaviors.
