Part of this is because "computer science" has been sold to an entire generation of students as a get rich quick scheme if you're good at math, before AI, after AI, every company w one to sell says they all code, why would anyone ever need to learn this stuff?

But on the contrary, would this actually suggest is the playing field for a technical jobs and roles will be demonetized from non-technical and technical individuals given the fact of that we all have the same playing field

i am an engineer in the field ~10 yrs. my colleagues and i use ai for coding and troubleshooting, but understand all the code or output, its simply a faster way to write trivial scripts. but this is very different if you have zero knowledge of coding and engineering.

We’ve turned Work# into something you do for money, but I’ve always loved my work partly because regardless of what anybody else is doing I’m getting things done and learning new things and making something better. I’m happy to learn without AI and happy to use AI appropriately farther down the process, but I need to know what I’m doing first.

My professors are forced to use an AI component of the class. I refused to use it and had to watch as my classmates would get better grades using AI, which just felt like it was reinforcing the behavior.
