David Foster Wallace’s speech this is water changed the way I thought about my humanities degree that I’m so happy for. I am currently in law school and my boss keeps reminding me that ai is coming for young lawyers and while that thought keeps me up at night I still remind myself even though law school grading is a hazing ritual- academia and the pursuit of critical thinking is an absolute delight I will choose again and again if I’m able and one I will never regret.

I appreciate this video so much. I am currently a 3rd/4th grade language arts teacher & I love working with and inspiring children to form a genuine love for reading & writing. It can be challenging to feel motivated when you feel undervalued by society.

I guess you just have to understand what your aura is in this world I guess I don’t know if that makes sense but as long as you understand that whatever job you have is usually doesn’t necessarily make a break who you are, but the money you make from that job funds who you wanna become so as long as you don’t wanna feel trapped like the society trap you’re probably gonna be a happy person whatever you do regardless of a good bad ugly career cause that means you’re an internally happy person

i never choose anything, i just went with what felt right spiritually, i tried automotive, loved it but my skill set is not great enough to avoid immense debt with tools so i dropped out in 2017 after 3 and half years do it part time while working jobs and it isn't until 9 years later i decided what feels right to me for a career which is why i plan to go back to my local community college to take their it management program than after that i am going to get my masters in library sciences. so this was a great talk and it encourages me that being 40 does not mean my desire for higher education is over.

I was just thinking about this recently. I came back home after finishing university and I just can’t believe how much smarter I feel all around. My critical skills and ability to have deep thoughts is so much greater.
