@violetclair: My grandmother loved to paint more than anything, but she died when I was nine, so I never really got to know that side of her. After she passed away, her paintings were packed into a warehouse, where they sat untouched for nearly 30 years. Growing up, I never heard anyone talk about her as a particularly talented artist. Painting was always described as a hobby, something she did because she enjoyed it. Recently, I had the chance to see the paintings for myself, and I was completely blown away. Not only by how beautiful they are, but by the feeling of discovering a part of my grandmother I never got the chance to know. Now I get to fill my home with her work, and I can't think of a better way to honor her.
