I just started ASL and the first thing we’re covering is gloss and ASL grammar. It’s really cool learning how it works as a language!

If the sign for “parents” is mom-dad, is there a sign for “parents” for a two mom or two dad family?

As an autistic person, ASL grammar/gloss read aloud feels so much lighter and less overwhelming than traditional English grammar.

Your videos are so so helpful! Understanding grammatical differences of spoken and signed English and the differences of SEE/PSE/ASL has been really useful. Your emphasis on expressions and how hard, repetitively, and long you sign a word have been really insightful as well.

My first ASL class had me giggling a little bit when we got to ‘what name you?’ I love learning the differences! It’s such a complex language but I’m so grateful to be able to learn it. Thanks for sharing your experiences!
