My previous job messed up my pay and paid me like 5 dollars extra. I brought it up with them after my first paycheck because I wanted to be honest. Nothing ever came of it until 2 years later when I got a promotion. When they went to increase my pay they were pissed at me and wanted me to pay back all the money. I sent them the email I saved where I brought it up and never got a reply, and that saved my ass so I didn’t have to pay it back anymore.

They changed my off day, and I followed the schedule. I even took a screenshot of the schedule with the time before I went off because I knew they were probably going to screw me over, and I was right. The next day, they asked why I wasn’t in the office. I told them I was following the schedule and was supposed to be off, but they didn’t believe me. When I got to work, I checked the online schedule and, yeah, they had changed it again. If I hadn’t taken that screenshot, I would’ve been screwed because we only have an online schedule. They changed it without telling me and almost made it look like I was the one in the wrong.

I'm not sure if it's always been like this, but I've been working since 2019 and no matter where I go it feels like everyone at work, is either fake, cliquey, or always trying to find an opportunity to get you in trouble/fired

Here’s the thing about saving all those emails: if you’re just saving them in your work account, on your work computer, they are not going to help you. H.R. will lock you out of your computer the moment you need them.

I use my ticket system to document everything per project. saved me me a few times. especially since outlooks search function is garbage.

Document EVERYTHING notable. If someone was rude to you - document it, if your manager didn’t give you your lunch - document it. Literally keep a running word doc. Also CC your personal emails in any important exchanges that may be concerning if you need a copy of it.

I haven’t seen anyone mention this yet, it’s not just the ppl you work with who will try to get over on you. If you work corporate and you deal with ppl via email like clients, partners whatever you also have to keep their emails. The way external ppl have lied about an interaction with me and i have had to show leadership proof is insane. The average person will try to make you lose your job it’s crazy.
