Hi I have a German shepherd and she is 11. My family has a yard and just lets her run out there but I want her to see the world. The problem is she is the ultimate escape artist. I need a 100% escape proof collar or harness that won’t hurt her but that will keep her safe. Also what do I do when she is wiggling back out of the harness? it’s hard to explain without a video of it. I even tried to “practice” walk her in the backyard and she pretends to be good because she knows she’s just outside im guessing? But the second I open the front door she is Houdini and tries to BOOK it. I want her to see the world. She’s getting older and she’s my best friend. She got me through addiction and depression. I just wish I could return the favor for her last few years her. I wanna eventually take her to Yosemite trips and stuff like that when she learns more. But where do I start?🖤

the spray bottle worked for me. my puppy would eat the carpet or scratch the back or the couch - sprayed once & she never did either again ✨

maple used to bark at dogs barking outside. Now she knows that if dogs bark outside she sits in a certain spot and gets a treat and a play!

Don’t want them jumping up back away say no then wait till they sit and give lots of love and treats! We do this with our 14 week old and he no longer jumps up us for attention and sits in front of us and patiently waits for pets

My Rottie would have loveddd a spray bottle 😂 in fact, I did use a spray bottle on her and still do—as a fun game 😂 she loves playing with water

Spray bottles can work, it depends on the dog. Some will be really bothered by it and stop, others will like it.

For everyone here saying they used a spray bottle and it worked for them, please look at this face and remember it. This sweet girl was “trained” using a spray bottle before we adopted her. Now every time I grab a spray bottle to clean a window, spray the kitchen counters, spray laundry, or spray water on a plant she starts shaking and she hides. We have to remove her from the room first and then use the spray bottle because she is so afraid she is going to be sprayed. Don’t spray your dogs. It’s mean. It causes lasting negative effects and it’s unnecessary.

So I was watching another trainer and what they said is give them something else to do other than what you don’t want them to do so they can’t be counter surfing if they’re in a fit because you told them to sit, they can’t be jumping up on you if you told them to lay down, you have to give them what you want them to do and it takes away the bad behavior you don’t want them to do because they are following what you’re asking.

I hate my puppy right now he is reacting to Everything and I have tried everything! He is 1 very soon and everyone is looking at me like I am crazy when he is reacting and talking to me like I want him to do this

I started telling mine no, off and putting her feet back on the floor every time she jumps up on the table to scope it out. She finally is starting to get down when I say no.

dumb question but if your dog is barking at other dogs on walks how do you teach them the other alternative is not to bark…

Spray bottles are only appropriate in a “doggy daycare” situation imo. Where handlers are supervising dogs they don’t know well, they need results fast, and aren’t being paid to train. Speaking as a former doggy daycare lady. I don’t think I would ever leave my dog at one btw.
