Please read the comments because this is a nuanced discussion. It’s not one size fits all. Some people prefer you build rapport before asking for an opportunity, while others just want your qualifications and résumé. Some have time for coffee chats, others don’t. Love the feedback she gave you! You can tell she wanted to help. Taking notes because this is exactly the direction in film and creative that I’m working into right now!! Definitely a lot of connections go unanswered so far I have a couple chats with recruiters which I feel like would be a great way in as well. Do you recommend finding email addresses of specific people and reaching out? Or only sticking to connecting requests? Thank you for sharing !

This was helpful! Also as much as I’m sure her response stung, she handled it with grace. I started asking for a coffee chat to talk about their journey after they accepted my connect request on LinkedIn and I actually got 2 people that said okay! I had one earlier and it’s def a confidence booster in the job search🙏🏽

As 40+ mom with 20yrs in corporate i’d say it’s Very kind for that person to send you back this feedback ✨ agree a short message anchoring with shared experience or shared interest (uni or work or aspirations ) and genuine positive/appreciation for their journey is usually well welcomed
