Every professional player can weld it into the top corner on the training ground. Penalties in an actual match are 90% psychology.

Most people in Europe who play could score more than they miss

Yeah I mean an average person should score at least 1 and probably 2 in 10.

I think out of 10 PKs most average Joe’s are scoring at least one. But a lot of average Joe’s have very readable penalty techniques. Maybe you’ll score early, but the GK is going to figure you the more shots you take. Against Joe’s we’re not just “guessing.” We’re picking picking up cues about where you’re likely to shoot.

I’m good enough to place it in the top corner. I just don’t thing I will hit it hard enough for them to not get to it.

I'd say it depends if the person actually knows a little something about shooting techniques. If so, the rate is probably a little higher

Power is not really important on PK but technique does. For example the perfect Zidane panenka goal against Buffon in the World Cup 2006.

Seeing this for real really makes you realize just how powerful pros shoot. I think people see it on tv and SEVERELY underestimate how slow the average person‘s shot is even at full power.

By regular person do you also include ppl who have consistently played at an amateur level ?

I was pretty good and I feel like I could maybe score 1 or 2 out of 5 on an MLS level goalie.

Well the average person doesn't know how to kick, so no they couldn't, if you can teach an avaeage person how to kick then yes 100% they would be able to do it consistently, just because 11 meter is a short enough distance to not need that much speed on the ball to score a goal with enough accuracy

Dudes in trainers. No power or not near corner. keepers would ace 95% min of his shots like this

What would you classify as a regular person? Like i stopped playing organised when I was around 13 and very rarely play now but obviously I know how to kick a ball better than that. Not even saying I could consistently but at what point is it no longer a “regular person”?

Mister Wayne :
A PK inherently has a strong advantage to the shooter. So strong that it can overcome wide gaps in talent, but just because it’s doable, doesn’t mean we can do it

the thing with penalty in real life is dealing with stress

Noblet9 :
Definitely accurate. There is a minimum amount of consistent power and accuracy required before a professional goalkeeper would even need to consider guessing instead of purely reacting. Most people can't do that.
