@chinaminutes: After completing China’s Gaokao, a student was filmed kneeling before his father in a touching gesture of respect. The student’s father is Chen Zhou, a well-known motivational speaker in China. At 13, he lost both legs after falling from a moving train. Following the accident and his parents’ divorce, he spent the next decade travelling across China as a street singer, performing in more than 700 cities. Despite losing both legs, Chen Zhou went on to climb some of China’s most famous mountains. In 2012, he gained national recognition after climbing Mount Hua using only his hands and a pair of homemade wooden supports, a feat that took 19 hours to complete. He later appeared on major Chinese television programmes and became known nationwide for sharing his story of perseverance. Today, Chen Zhou travels across China giving motivational talks at schools, universities and public events. He has also published books about his life and continues to encourage others to overcome adversity and pursue their goals.
