the people that leave the “omg drop the workout routine” comments wouldn’t do the workout routine even if the person gave them one tbh

I would say, it’s good to keep in mind that some people’s “workout routine” is just… their job. Like, not that working out is their job, that their job is what has caused them to build muscle. I was working for a bit at a place where a not insignificant part of my job involved moving bolts of fabric, I had another job that involved carrying large amounts of clothing up and down stairs, I would not describe myself as a person who works out but I left both those jobs with more muscle than I started them. The closest I’ve come to an actual workout routine is physical therapy and if someone asked me for that routine (not that they would, no one is eager to have my rotator cuffs or hip flexors) I wouldn’t share it anyway because I’m not a physical therapist and I don’t want someone copying what I do and hurting themselves because the exercises I was given aren’t what they need.

This. I'm slightly underweight and I have a "good physique" according to societal standards, and when I tell you I BARELY get out of the house and go for a walk (ik it's unhealthy and I'm trying to change that lol)

And the real kicker is someone, like myself can have muscle and not work out. like I haven't worked out in probably 6 years but I can deadlift 130 because I just naturally carry muscle in my lower body. my upper body unfortunately suffered more but I still carry a bit of muscle

Wouldn't deep breathing and posing be a workout? I feel like those people usually have all muscle in their core and stabilizer muscles which help them carry themselves a certain way. Like doing yoga builds

One cool thing killjoy said that’s never left my mind “no matter how you feel imagine how you’d look if you never worked out” regardless you’d look drastically different if you never did

I see what you’re getting at, some people just have better bone structure, muscle insertions, and fat distribution. The issue is that muscle development itself ALSO has a huge genetic component: myostatin activity, androgen receptor density, fiber type distribution…these all determine how much muscle someone carries and how easily they build it. You could be looking at someone who trained for ten years or someone who just responds exceptionally well to minimal stimulus and can’t tell the difference. Appearance alone gives you none of that context.
