On March 10th in Los Angeles, Easy Busy Meals, with the support of @goukraina , was deeply honored to provide catering at the funeral memorial service of Ethan Hunter Hertweck — a 21-year-old U.S. Marine Corps veteran who gave his life not for personal glory, but for the freedom of others. After being honorably discharged from the Marines due to a medical condition, Ethan could have chosen a quiet life. Instead, he chose courage. At just 19 years old, he first traveled to Ukraine in early 2022 — not to fight, but to help. He came to assist women and children fleeing the war, guided by compassion and a deep sense of justice. But something even stronger called him back. In March 2023, Ethan returned to Ukraine — this time with purpose, skill, and determination. He earned his Combat Medic license in Poland, and soon after began training Ukrainian soldiers in combat warfare and lifesaving skills through The Trident Defense Initiative. He later signed a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine, joining the 131st Reconnaissance Team, and then The Chosen Company of the 59th Brigade — a unit made up of foreign fighters committed to Ukraine’s defense. On December 4th, 2023, near Avdiivka, Ethan and a fellow soldier were ambushed by Russian troops. He was shot while trying to save his wounded brother-in-arms, and later succumbed to his own injuries. His actions saved lives. His sacrifice was selfless. His legacy, eternal. His memorial in Kyiv’s Independence Square was attended by soldiers, friends, and Ukrainian civilians who will never forget his bravery. And now, 15 months after his death, Ethan has finally come home. The memorial service took place on International Women’s Day. On this day, our team joined the family in mourning, sharing deep sorrow and respect for Ethan’s brave mother @cancerovercomer , who gave one of her sons for the freedom of Ukraine. Her strength, courage, and dignity moved us deeply. We will never forget. Thank you, Ethan. Your sacrifice unites us. Your courage inspires us. You will live forever in our hearts. 🤍🕊️✨ #ethanhertweck #chosencompany @internationallegionua #goukraina #americanhero #herooftwonations #heroesneverdie
