I literally today saw Mythbusters, they tried to check whether they could walk across the field straight with their eyes closed without deviating from the trajectory. And lo and behold, they both ended up making a counterclockwise circle. I'll watch the video again now to make sure.

I could be wrong but I feel like every graduation ive been to they enter the stage from right to left. same thing for skating rinks, ice skating. this is wild! how have I never noticed this?

Ballroom dance teacher here: The line of dance of traveling dances such as Waltz or Foxtrot also is counter clockwise. The trend continues.

How interesting… I’m in Australia and when I think of all the supermarkets I go to near where I live and work, the clear majority of them are oriented clockwise. I would’ve thought it’s more related to driving on the left, so we habitually enter premises on the left side and exit still facing the left (once you loop around).

My kids & I visit A LOT of zoos/museums. When entering as they open, I always (purposely) would start left & go clockwise (or go straight to the back an work forward) as I believed there was less traffic at the exhibits. I always felt that the crowd went right as they entered & now this makes sense (I was correct!)

I wonder if it has something to do with the balance of the vestibular system. I'm deaf on the left side due to birth defect that made all the parts of my left inner ear too small, including the vestibular system. so my balance is poor, and I tend to lean/walk right. if I try to walk straight, I tend to move in a clockwise circle. maybe if my ears were normal, I would favor counter clockwise like your example
